Debbie – Age 29 – Lost 31 Pounds
I have always struggled with my weight. My personality was huge, so I guess it was appropriate that my weight was big, too. I did all the things that I thought were weight loss solutions: counting calories, points, fat grams, and sometimes just not eating. Lately, instead of trying, I started just giving up and had accepted that I was just going to be a bigger woman.
Jumpstart Medicine brought a whole new perspective to my life. As of today, I have lost 30 pounds and I feel great! I heard about Jumpstart by accident and it was and is a true blessing. I know that this time is different for many reasons. Number one I am being taught through the program how to eat properly. I never before really understood what proteins or carbohydrates were. None of the other programs I was on empowered me with knowledge or taught me to understand the rationale behind their diet and why I was being asked to eat or track my foods in a certain way. Jumpstart does that.
Secondly, I find the weekly one on one visits with my educator a huge source of my success. These visits help foster personal accountability. Arlene, my educator, and I have a chance to talk about me and to focus on my own strengths, barriers and frustrations. She provides me not only with this support but with good advice that I will need to sustain my success into the future.
Lastly, I believe that this program is successful for me and anyone else willing to commit to it, because I have the knowledge that I am being looked after in a comprehensive way. Having blood tests done, an EKG, and weekly blood pressure and heart rate checks means that measures are being taken to ensure my overall health is being taken care of while I am losing weight. I have complete confidence in the clinical staff of doctors and educators to protect and ensure my health.
Even though I am not yet exactly to my goal weight, I feel truly happy and good now. I have the energy to respond to what life throws my way. With Jumpstart, I am excited to see what the future holds for me and I plan to stay active in the program for as long as I need to be sure that I have it right this timeā¦I am sure that I do.
