Lifestyle Modification
“First we form our habits. Then they form us.”
- Gilbert
Diet is derived from the Greek word, dieta, meaning “a way to live.” 90% of “successful losers” surveyed by the National Weight Control Registry (www.nwcr.ws) say they, “no longer feel like they’re on a diet.” These long-term weight loss success stories have crossed a threshold wherein successful weight loss behaviors have become the norm.
At Jumpstart, our team will introduce you to new and healthy habits and help you identify critical motivators and unique challenges. Together, our experts will guide you down a road where you learn strategies to lose weight effectively and gain the knowledge and skills you need to keep it off.
That said, changing habits is a challenge. That’s why we’re there for you with individualized weekly visits. During these sessions, our team members provide ongoing emotional support, address your unique needs, educate, and positively reinforce success based habits.
Patients return weekly for as long as it takes to achieve their initial weight loss goal. Once that weight loss goal is achieved, patients return weekly for one more month. Thereafter, while not contractually bound to do so, patients typically come once monthly for 2 more years for individual visits that help to secure their losses, suppress old habits, and reinforce new and successful ones.
Again, patients can stop the program at any time. But we recommend a 2-year weight loss maintenance goal because studies show that individuals who are able to achieve 2 years of successful weight loss maintenance dramatically improve their odds of long-term weight loss. During this period, our team is there to guide you toward that achievement through ongoing support, continuing education, exercise recommendations, and lifestyle changes.
