Phase I: Acute Weight Loss
The goal of Jumpstart Medicine’s Acute Weight Loss Phase is to lose weight quickly and comfortably. Patients will do this by following the prescribed nutritional plan while incorporating a modest exercise regimen and very practical lifestyle changes. A subtler goal is that patients are practicing and establishing a foundation upon which they can build their lifelong success at weight maintenance.
During phase I, patients return weekly for close monitoring and recurring education. Vital signs, current weight, and body fat percentages are all recorded. Patients and staff review the past week’s issues and observations. Hunger patterns, work schedules, family and personal habits may all be discussed as we work to reverse detrimental lifestyle tendencies while creating healthy eating habits.
We recognize that life doesn’t stop while one is trying to lose weight. Topics during these visits may include tips on grocery shopping, ordering at restaurants, incorporating exercise and portion control while traveling, and coping with any personal dietary challenges. Medication dosage changes and additional therapies may be implemented. Patients receive their weekly injection of amino acids and vitamins after which medication is also dispensed. Patients lose on average 2 to 5 pounds per week.
